Costa Coffee
Costa Coffee is the UK’s fastest growing coffee shop chain with over 700 stores nationwide with outlets in the high street, airports and train stations.
Operating as a subsidiary of the Whitbread Group, the company is run under the principal of product quality before cost, as many Costa employees will tell you “Making coffee is an art".
Their coffee is made from some of the finest coffee beans in the world however being successful in this industry is not only about making good coffee. They believe that to differentiate themselves from their competitors, it is important to create the perfect surroundings for its customer to relax and enjoy their Costa experience.
Temperature control is an important part of this process which is why Costa ensure that each of their outlets has the correct air conditioning, heating and ventilation to maintain its inner ambience.
Having worked with Costa Coffee for a number of years on many new installations throughout the country, we have developed a strong customer relationship by ensuring a consistent level of service tailored to the needs of the customer.
Having agreed with the client a plan of works to compliment the size and shape of the building, we were seen to be the best candidate for completing the large new store Air Conditioning and Ventilation installation on Finsbury Avenue in Central London. The plan also took into consideration the peak times of business with necessary work carried out at a time when the outlet was at its quietest to ensure noise and disruption to Costa’s customers was kept to a minimum.
For this site we installed four Mitsubishi Inverter Split systems with cassette indoor units for flexibility for as each one-to-one split serves a particular area of the store and in the event of a unit failure, the air conditioning will still be available from other units.
Due to the unique ‘L’ shaped design of the building we installed 4 ceiling mounted cassette units to provided a consistent distribution of air throughout the cafe area. This was also advantageous as the indoor cassette can be easily relocated if the shop layout changes or the system is expanded in the future.
In the kitchen we installed an extract canopy and a Mitsubishi wall mounted inverter, designed to provide wide and long airflow for cooling, with the canopy necessary for removing heat to maintain temperature control and comfortable working conditions.
We installed a smoke extract and a ceiling mounted cassette in the serving area to remove steam from the coffee machines which allowed for closely monitored temperature control in an area which is mostly populated with customers.
