Four Seasons is ‘just the medicine’ for UDG

UDG is a pre-wholesaling joint venture company owned by Alloga and United Drug, specialising in the storage and distribution of pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medicines across the United Kingdom. Based in south Normanton in Derbyshire, UDG stands as our largest industrial client.

In November 2007 we were asked to supply and install a modular cold room for storing pharmaceuticals, vaccines and other health care products with an internal storage temperature range of 2-8^oC. The Four Seasons Group has a long standing relationship with this client and having installed a number of large cold rooms in the past.

To ensure that we were able to maintain this necessary temperature we installed 4 systems, each comprising of three ceiling mounted dual discharge coolers with electric defrost matched to a remote located semi-hermetic condensing unit.

Although each system is independent it was planned that they would work together to ensure a consistent temperature with spare capacity if one system shuts down.

This was the third large chill cold room we have installed for UDG which meant the client could be confident in the knowledge that we could successfully manage a project of this size and that we had the necessary experience to design a system to meet their specific requirements. Following each installation we have been asked by the client to provide the maintenance and servicing for the equipment.

As part of the total service we provide for UDG, we maintain the Air conditioning and heating for both sites, servicing the over head door heaters and the central heating for the warehouse, air conditioning in the offices and server room and the outside chilled water system.

In addition to the existing maintenance package we also provide the necessary F-Gas leaks checks on the refrigerant in each of the Air Conditioning and Cold room applications used on site to ensure that their systems comply with the necessary European F-Gas regulations.

Feedback

The Four Seasons Group has a strong working relationship with UDG and the feedback on all installations has been very positive. Facilities manager Peter Labas is also very complimentary of Four Seasons Service department, singling out Service manager Simon Butler for particular praise,

“Simon does an excellent job, the service provided is second to none and that the company is good at what it does.”

Future Work

Maintenance renewal is reviewed every 12 months however it is expected that the UDG will continue to use Four Seasons due to the high level of service currently being provided. There are ongoing discussions at UDG into the possibility of building an Amber Park 3 in 2009 and if this is approved Four Seasons will be asked to provide the necessary cold room applications, air conditioning and heating applications for this site.
