The thistle hotel is located in Kensington Gardens, on Hyde Park. It’s a 3 Star, 10 storey hotel, complete with on site car parking, concierge, reception, bar and lounge, restaurant, conference facilities and 175 Bedrooms over eight floors.
The project is being carried out for Guoman Thistle, who are the Thistle management company and the project is being Managed by GMG associates, with whom JCW have an excellent working relationship.
The main phase (Bedrooms) of the works includes the refurbishment of the Air Conditioning systems, which involves a Daikin Q VRVIII R22 replacement system. This also includes the upgrade of the central control. The Existing equipment is being replaced by VRVQ units, which are suitable for R22 replacement systems. All pipework is re-used in accordance with the Daikin VRV replacement technologies. This project is amongst the first 10 projects of this nature in the UK and the first major project for JCW utilising the new technologies.
The Ground and First floor works involve the replacement of the R22 systems, and a reduction in the number of external units by consolidating the systems into correctly designed and installed areas to enable better control. To the Ground and first floors the works also include a New VRV system, Inverter DX Split System and a Twin Split System.
Along with the air conditioning upgrades the ventilation system has been renewed to the first floor utilising a new heat recovery AHU, to ensure the required fresh air is provided to the spaces and the design philosophy around heat recovery is maintained throughout.

As a TTC (Trend Technology Centre), LGBMS will perpetuate Four Seasons’ growing legacy of energy efficiency encompassing, as it does, complete assurance of the highest standard of workmanship and reassurance to the client. In addition to this the acquisition places the company ideally in terms of embracing the growing legislation in this area.
Increased staff will bolster the Controls and Energy Management Division headed by Ray Wall following the successful acquisition of Berkeley Controls Group (BCG) in April. Ray will look to blend the complimentary skills of LGBMS and Berkeley Controls Midlands office as soon as is practical, which will accelerate the growth of the Controls and Energy Management Division. BCG is a strong brand and it is hoped that
The merge will benefit LGBMS’s existing clientele as well as prospective customers by having a larger and more technically equipped team on call.

BCG is a successful controls company with the ability to offer energy reduction solutions to clients operating in the UK, Europe and Middle East from offices in High Wycombe and Leicestershire. The acquisition of BCG adds a significant new skill set to the Group supporting Four Seasons ability to offer clients the ability to reduce energy bills and comply with increasing amounts of carbon reduction legislation. BCG will add a further £4 million of revenue resulting in combined pro-forma revenue for the Group in excess of £30 million.
In addition to the broad commercial market, BCG also serves the Pharmaceutical market and through its exclusive distribution agreements with Phoenix and Strobic has the ability to provide world leading clean room environments to research establishments in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The combined business boasts an impressive client list including H&M, William Hill, WH Smith, Ladbrokes, Astra Zeneca, Waterstones, Carillion, University of Bristol, University of Cambridge, BBC Wales, HMCS, Admiral Insurance, Virgin mobile, MOD, Boots and Carphone Warehouse. The acquisition accelerates the planned strategy of offering a wider range of energy reduction building service solutions across a wider range of market sectors.
The enlarged Group, which employs over 200 staff will move BCG’s High Wycombe operation into its headquarters in High Wycombe, whilst using BCG’s Leicestershire office to expand into the Midlands installation and maintenance markets.

Barclays Ventures made an initial investment in May 2007 and have supported FSG with a further equity injection to fund the acquisition.

The Four Seasons Group has secured the air conditioning maintenance contract with Bridgend County Council which also includes carrying out a TM44 energy inspection. After a meeting with the client the deciding factor was our proven track record of quality of work and dedication with other public sector clients. The contract calls for bi-annual maintenance inspection visits to various council properties for a guarenteed 4 years.
After working successfully with Parsons Brinkerhoff Facilities for the last 5 years at Tiverton Hospital, Ystrad Mynach Police Custody Suite and Salisbury Hospital our quality of work and dedication paid off once again with the successful tender of Kingston Hospital providing JCW Service with the largest base maintenance contract that has been awarded to us yet. The contract calls for weekly inspection visits to the hospital as well as the planned visits in addition to the spin off potential which could almost triple the total value which is guaranteed for at least 5 years.
